PROJECT Duckadam

The documentary aims to recreate the path of one of the most famous sportsmen in Romania, a route that immediately after one of the most titled performances of the Romanian sport, is transformed into a continuous struggle for survival. Helmut Duckadam, baptized by the international press “The hero of Seville”, less than two weeks after winning the most prestigious inter-club trophy in the world, is expelled from the team and his access to the club’s premises is forbidden. Duckadam refused to take part in an arranged match in which he was asked by the club management to receive more goals for Victor Piţurcă to become the goalscorer of the championship. This refusal causes Duckadam to lose his position as goalkeeper at CSA Steaua Bucharest. However, the moment of inspiration in the European Champions Cup final where he has defended four consecutive penalties, a unique performance in the history of world football, turns him into a true hero and brings him international recognition.
